Savoy Mountain is an enigma of nature–a rugged and often dramatic landscape, much of which is part of the Savoy State Forest. It’s 634 residents are united by an unspoken reverence for a simpler life style more closely resembling the subsistence ethic of earlier times and with a collective appreciation for its unspoiled pastoral beauty and abundant wildlife. In the time I have lived in Savoy my thoughts and images resonate with this central theme. Friends and colleagues who visit can’t believe that such a total immersion in nature can still be found here in Massachusetts, the third most populated state in the nation. SavoySong endeavors to share precious moments, beauty, and in some instances, the the history of people who live here.
